Becoming a member of the Ohio State Marching band takes more than talent — there’s a lot of hard work and perseverance involved. While there are countless stories about students overcoming the odds and finding their place on the field, Greg Daniel has a story unlike any other. In 1971 he became the first blind member of the band. Daniel remained a member of the band all four years he was at Ohio State.
Daniel’s story is featured in The Carmen Collection, an online archive of stories and experiences of historically underrepresented groups at Ohio State as part of the university’s sesquicentennial celebration.
