Started in 1909 as the Ohio Malleable Band, the Second Regiment Band was led by John Peter France. This photo has them preparing to go to Philadelphia in 1976 to appear in a U.S. Bicentennial parade.

King-Lincoln District, Gene Walker is a world class jazz saxophonist, composer, band leader, recording studio musician, and educator. Since 1956 Gene has toured with the Beatles, King Curtis, Sam Cook, Jackie Wilson, Jimmy McGriff, the Drifters and the Platters.
Melman’s Club 502 was a major jazz venue from 1956 until 1968. Started by Marty Melman, the club featured Central Ohio jazz musicians as well as nationally known performers.
